Broken / lost provisionalIf the provisional has fallen out, you can reinsert it yourself, provided you can find the correct positioning. Before you do so, rinse it under water and clean it with a toothbrush. You can use toothpaste as an adhesive, so it does not immedieately fall out again. If you cannot reposition the provisional correctly or if it is fractured, the dentist needs to reinsert it or produce a new one. If the underlying tooth is sensitive to temperature, you ca cover it temporarily with a piece of sugar-free chewing gum.
